Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay (born on March 30, 1899- died on September 22, 1970) was a well known Indian Bengali penman. He was born in the town of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. His creation detective character ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ was public appearance in 1932. He also wrote several historical novels like ‘Kaler Mandira’, ‘Gour Mollar’, ‘Tumi Sandhyar Megh’, ‘Tungabhodrar Tire’ etc. Renowned film director Satyajit Ray made film ‘Chiriyakhana’ by Sharadindu’s story. He got award rabibdra Puruskar for his novel Tungabhodrar Tire. Calcutta University awarded him by Sharat Smriti Puruskar.
